Vextorial is a world manipulating dimensions, gravity, and planes, with an abstract environment. Therefore, the character existing in this 2D otherworld, should also exhibit the same concept, showcasing the feel of surrealism and minimalism.
Pilo was designed with glowing, iridescent that glisten and fade into the surroundings, with soft, pulsating glows highlighting their silhouette, to make it standout in the dark atmosphere.
The initial idea was a long slender spirit with simple graphics and figure that glows, something mysterious from the other dimension.
It highlighted on the design of ‘legs’ for the spirit to ‘walk’ and ‘jump’ on platforms.
However, the designs are look hollow, giving a scary and eerie feeling.
Since we want to design a character that felt soft and comforting, the team chose to go for a cute direction and strengthened the idea of minimalism.
After modifying the eyes and shape, our character is now born!
We even come up with the name Pilo from its cute shape~
